Nursery/EYFS

Welcome to Dunsford Nursery, where our thriving setting continues to go from strength to strength. Our vision is to provide an environment which is both nurturing and fulfilling developmentally for all of our two to four year olds.

We work closely with our families to make sure each individual child feels settled and happy and that we meet their needs. We work closely with the Class 1 team, ensuring that each child’s transition into the academy is as smooth as can be.

 Applying for a place

Please contact us for an application pack and see our Admissions Policy below.

Once your child starts to enjoy sessions at our nursery, you will need to confirm the sessions you’d like on a termly basis. This is how the national funding system works. Many parents choose to increase their child’s hours at nursery over time, especially in the run up to starting in reception. Do please choose additional sessions for your child if you would like them to benefit from the transition work we do across the week. Nursery places and hours will be allocated strictly in line with our Admission Policy.

If you would like to come along to meet us and explore our nursery setting and academy, please just ring us or email. If you have any queries, comments or suggestions for us, please do get in touch. We want to work in partnership with our parents and local families, to ensure that together we thrive. We welcome all communication!

Stay and Play

We usually offer Stay and Play sessions for your child starting nursery. These are currently on hold due to Coronavirus.

Everyone welcome

All 2 - 4 year old children are welcome to attend our nursery.

Contact us

We are happy to offer personal tours of the nursery and the academy, currently outside the school hours. You can email us or ring to make an appointment.

Daily Routines

Breakfast Club opens from 7:30am and is held in the Daffodil building. A member of staff will greet you at the gate.  A healthy breakfast is provided for those who want it.

A variety of play activities are on offer for the children. Miss Farress will accompany any nursery children attending the Club to the Daffodil Building and settle them in to their morning.

Dropping off your child for the morning sessions

We welcome parents into the Daffodil Building from 8:50am.  Miss Farress and Mrs Wilson will be busy setting everything up before this time, so please do not arrive too early, thank you.

Please use the main entrance at the far end of the Daffodil Building to bring your child into the setting.

Picking up or dropping off your child at lunchtime

Please ring the gate and the member of the staff will bring your child to you.

Our afternoon sessions run from 12:30 – 3:30pm.

Please wait in the main playground at the end of the day. Please do not go through the gate and up the side of the Willow Class to wait by the Daffodil Building. Nursery staff bring the children down to you at 3:20pm (to make it easier for parents who pick up their children from across the academy).

“My son loves going to Nursery at Dunsford. He looks forward to it every day. He enjoys playing with his friends and is obviously relaxed and at home in the Daffodil Building. I feel very lucky to have the school on my doorstep.”

Mrs F

“…we are happy with B’s place in the nursery and he obviously loves it so this makes me very happy.”

Mrs S

“…  H absolutely loves Nursery and asks every day whether he can go or not!”

Communication between Home and Nursery

We email home a weekly newsletter (copies below). In it we let families know about what the children have been up to and pass on any messages or reminders. We also use the Tapestry software system, an online record of EYFS learning journeys, to share photographs and observations about each individual child.
