Welcome to Dunsford Nursery, where our thriving setting continues to go from strength to strength. Our vision is to provide an environment which is both nurturing and fulfilling developmentally for all of our two to four year olds.
We work closely with our families to make sure each individual child feels settled and happy and that we meet their needs. We work closely with the Class 1 team, ensuring that each child’s transition into the academy is as smooth as can be.

Once your child starts to enjoy sessions at our nursery, you will need to confirm the sessions you’d like on a termly basis. This is how the national funding system works. Many parents choose to increase their child’s hours at nursery over time, especially in the run up to starting in reception. Do please choose additional sessions for your child if you would like them to benefit from the transition work we do across the week. Nursery places and hours will be allocated strictly in line with our Admission Policy.

If you are considering sending your child to our nursery, why not try a Stay and Play session first? These run on Monday mornings from 9.00am until 10.30am.
All 2 - 4 year old children are welcome, alongside an adult family member. We enjoy meeting families and giving children the opportunity to explore our setting and get to know our staff.
Just drop in - all welcome! We are also happy to offer personal tours of the nursery and the academy. You can email us or ring to make an appointment.
Breakfast Club opens from 7:30am and is held in the Dining Room (in the main building). Simply follow the path round the side of the main building to find your way in. A healthy breakfast is provided for those who want it.
A variety of play activities are on offer for the children. Miss Dundas/Miss Crossland will accompany any nursery children attending the Club to the Daffodil Building and settle them in to their morning.
Dropping off your child for the morning sessions
We welcome parents into the Daffodil Building from 8:55am. Miss Dundas and Mrs Wilson will be busy setting everything up before this time, so please do not arrive too early, thank you.
Please use the main entrance at the far end of the Daffodil Building to bring your child into the setting. Please help your child to sign in and encourage them to hang up their coats and bags appropriately. Please check their tray for any letters, artwork or special treasures you may have missed. This is also where you will find any lost belongings.
Picking up or dropping off your child at lunchtime
Please come straight to the Daffodil Building’s main entrance, where staff will be ready to greet you.
Our afternoon sessions run from 12:30 – 3:30pm.
Please wait in the main playground at the end of the day. Please do not go through the gate and up the side of Class 1 to wait by the Daffodil Building. Nursery staff bring the children down to you at 3:30pm (to make it easier for parents who pick up their children from across the academy).

We email home a weekly newsletter (copies below). In it we let families know about what the children have been up to and pass on any messages or reminders. We also use the Tapestry software system, an online record of EYFS learning journeys, to share photographs and observations about each individual child.
