Mark Miller – Newton Abbot & Teign Local Governance Committee

I have over 35 years experience as an education professional, leader and manager, including just over 20 years as a headteacher in three very different schools in South-East and North London and 3 years managing the Early Years and Childcare Service for a large London borough.

I am passionate about improving the life chances of children and their families. High quality early education and care are an essential element of this. I believe that involvement in the arts plays a crucial role in removing barriers to learning and developing self-esteem and confidence in children.

I chose to take early retirement in Summer 2015 and have since worked part-time as a tutor on a PGCE programme and as an associate early years trainer and consultant. I now work as an associate tutor with Plymouth Marjon University supervising trainee teachers on school placements and as a school improvement advisor for a nursery school/children’s centre in Cambridge.

I moved to Dunsford in 2016 and wish to support the governance of the Trust in my role as a Local Governance Committee member.
