Healthy meals for healthy children

We are committed to giving children the opportunity to make healthy eating choices. Delicious nut free meals provided are freshly prepared, nutritionally balanced with locally sourced ingredients. We actively promote our school meals and encourage our children to take full advantage of them.

We are able to give the children a choice of several hot meals and sandwiches every day. We always have a meat option, a vegetarian option and a ‘jacket potato’ option.  Salad and bread are available with every meal. We are a nut free school.

For pudding, the children have the choice of a dessert or fresh fruit or a yoghurt.

Our online payment system works well; parents pay in advance for meals, and as long as their accounts are in credit, meal orders can be placed up to a term in advance and must be ordered by midnight the night before.

Meals currently cost £2.60 per meal.  YR – Y2 are currently entitled to Universal Free School Meals funded by the Government

Free school meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 automatically get free school meals. Parents and guardians are encouraged to apply for free school meals when they enrol their child in school as this can help their child’s school to attract additional ‘pupil premium’ funding to support learning.

From Year 3 onwards, children whose parents are in receipt of any of the following benefits are entitled to free school meals:

  • Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
  • Income Support (IS)
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance (IBSJA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (IRESA)
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit,( provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, that does not exceed £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – ( the payment you get for a further 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
